Baking sheet or plate
Parchment paper (optional)
Knife (optional for cutting cherries)
- 12 fresh cherries with stems preferably Queen Anne cherries
- 6 oz dark or milk chocolate depending on preference
- 1 tbsp coconut oil optional for smooth chocolate
- ¼ cup crushed nuts such as almonds, hazelnuts, or walnuts - optional
Prepare the Cherries: Wash and dry the cherries thoroughly. Leave the stems on for easy dipping.
Melt the Chocolate: Using a double boiler or microwave, melt the chocolate and coconut oil (if using) until smooth. Stir to ensure it’s evenly melted.
Dip the Cherries: Hold each cherry by the stem and dip it into the melted chocolate, covering it halfway or fully, depending on your preference.
Add Nuts (Optional): If using crushed nuts, roll the dipped cherry in the nuts or sprinkle them on top while the chocolate is still wet.
Set the Cherries: Place the dipped cherries on a parchment-lined baking sheet or plate. Allow them to set for about 10-15 minutes or until the chocolate hardens.
Serve and Enjoy: Once the chocolate has set, serve the chocolate-covered cherries. Enjoy them as a sweet treat or gift them to someone special!
- Storage: Store your chocolate-covered cherries in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Variations: Try using white chocolate or adding a dash of sea salt on top for a unique twist. You can also experiment with different nuts for added texture and flavor.
- Chocolate Tip: For a smoother and shinier finish, add a little coconut oil to the chocolate when melting.
